The device (7) has a switching unit controlling an electrically activated odor creating unit that includes a neutralizer. The switching unit is connected with a controlling unit (5) for controlling a drive unit (3) and/or a chassis (4) of a motor vehicle. The odor creating unit is formed for creating different odors depending on signals of the switching unit, and includes multiple odor cartridges with different odors, where the odor cartridges are controlled corresponding to the signals of the switching unit. An independent claim is also included for a method for creating odor in an inner chamber of a motor vehicle.
