PURPOSE: An apparatus for reducing power consumption in a digital image processing device is provided to prolong the battery life by shutting down power of a GPS module after receiving initial location information. CONSTITUTION: An apparatus for reducing power consumption in a digital image processing device comprises a GPS module(300) and a power consumption reduction apparatus. The GPS module generates initial location information of the digital image processing device. The power consumption reduction apparatus includes a digital signal processing mean which shuts down power of a GPS module after receiving initial location information.
