Provided are a ship propulsion device consisting of a screw propeller which uses a fin-equipped propeller boss cap, and a ship provided with the slop propulsion device. The ship propulsion device and the ship provided with the ship propulsion device have higher propeller efficiency, higher workability, and less weight than a ship propulsion device using a finequipped propeller boss cap of prior art and than a ship provided with the slip propulsion device. A ship propulsion device (1A) having fins (6) provided to a propeller boss cap (5A) in such a manner that each of the fins is located behind the region between adjacent propeller blades (3). The rear end section (5a) of the propeller boss cap (5A) is formed as a flat surface or in a shape in which the distance of the rear end section (5a) from a peripheral edge section is within the range of 20% of the overall length (Lc) of the propeller boss cap (5A). Also, the overall length (Lc) is set to 0.28 to 0.76 times the diameter (Dcf) of the front end section of the cap, and the diameter (Dca) of the rear end section (5a) of the propeller boss cap (5A) is set to 0.35 to 0.95 times the diameter (Def) of the front end section (5f) of the propeller boss cap (5A). |
