The method involves detecting and evaluating measured values for compensation of atmospheric environment changes during disconnection of a thread (16), where the measured values represent reference capacity of a measuring head (20) of a monitoring system. The measured values are detected when cleaning of the measuring head is completed and a blower device (40) is not activated. The blower device is activated when detection of the measured values is completed, and a quality parameter of the thread is detected by the monitoring system. An independent claim is also included for a cross-wound bobbin producing textile machine comprising a monitoring system.
