PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a medical image processor which detects characteristics altered mucosa such as a Barrett's mucosa altered from esophageal mucosa. SOLUTION: The medical image processor detects a mucosa boundary between esophageal mucosa and gastric mucosa. The processor includes: a medical image inputting means to input a medical image composed of one or more signals taking an image of a living mucosal surface; a boundary information detection means to detect a contour line constituting a boundary between the esophageal mucosa and the gastric mucosa according to a medical image inputted by the medical image inputting means; a detection means for isolated area of esophageal squamous epithelium, which detects the isolated area of esophageal squamous epithelium locally existing in an area to the anal side against the mucosa boundary of the esophageal mucosa and the gastric mucosa detected by the boundary information detection means; and a detection means for Berrett's mucosa to detect existence of Berrett'S mucosa based on the detection result by the detection means for isolated area of esophageal squamous epithelium.
