PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a water intake joint with high durability, which can be firmly connected to a downpipe in various sizes. SOLUTION: This water intake joint J, which is installed midway through a path of the downpipe 5, includes an upper connection opening 1a to which an upside downpipe 5A is to be connected, a lower connection opening 2a to which a downside downpipe 5B is to be inserted and connected, and a drain outlet 2b for discharging taken-in rainwater; and one or more protrusions are protruded on the external wall surface of the lower connection opening 2a. When the downside downpipe 5B abuts on the protrusion provided on the external wall surface of the lower connection opening 2a, an abutting portion is inserted while being deformed (diameter-enlarged). This enables the connection of the downpipe 5 having an inside diameter smaller than the outside diameter of the lower connection opening 2a including the protrusion. In this case, since a restoring force forcing the downpipe 5 to return to an original state acts, the downpipe 5 and the lower connection opening 2a are firmly fixed. Since a gap is hardly made between the downpipe 5 and the lower connection opening 2a, waterproofness is high.
