PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gripper capable of easily mounting an end of a test piece to a drum member. SOLUTION: An upper gripper 2 has the drum member 10 constituted of a movable holding part 11 with a nearly semicircle-shaped cross section and a fixed holding part 12 with a nearly semicircle-shaped cross section and having a cylindrically-shaped outer peripheral part. A handle gear 33 is connected to a drum member driving gear 39, and a handle 31 is operated to rotate the drum member 10 constituted of the movable holding part 11 and the fixed holding part 12. The handle gear 33 is connected to a rotary shaft driving gear 38, and the handle 31 is operated to rotate a rotary shaft 21, which moves a pair of taper members 23.
