1,268,925. Soil stabilisation. BREVETEAM S.A. 26 March, 1969 [26 March, 1968], No. 15720/69. Heading E1H. Soil or a layer of particulate solids such as snow, sand or stones, lying on the ground is stabilized by laying a slit foil-like sheet-material on the free surface of the soil or layer, extending the material in a direction at rightangles to the slits and securing the material to the ground or layer by e.g. stakes. The slits are disposed in parallel rows and are staggered in adjacent rows. When the material is extended in said direction the webs between the slits buckle so that openings are formed in place of the slits with widths exceeding the distances between said rows. The material may be made of paper, which may be coated, polyethylene, cellulose, a foamed foil or an over-stretched polypropylene foil backed with paper. The foamed foil may be polystyrol, polyethylene, polyurethane or urea-formaldehyde and may be impregnated with a plant manure. The slits may be straight, curved or of zig-zag shape. When secured the material may be covered with stones and soil. |
