PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To optimize superposition while taking an actual behavior of carriage and an behavior of feeding operation. SOLUTION: The printing apparatus has a first drive means which controls the drive of the carriage, a second drive means which controls the feeding operation, a variation element acquiring means which acquires variation elements that give effects to the first drive means and the second drive means, a time acquiring means which acquires a practical time before the carriage starts printing in the last path and a practical time necessary for the feeding operation to end correspondingly to the variation elements, a behavior estimating means which estimates each time in the present path on the basis of the acquired variation elements and acquired practical times, and a drive control means which optimizes superposition on the basis of the estimated times.
