PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To change an image included in a standby screen by a simple operation. SOLUTION: A portable telephone set is capable of changing the state to an open state and a closed state by opening and closing an upper part and a lower part, and includes a flash memory for storing a plurality of images, a selection part (S13) for selecting an object image from the plurality of stored images, a closed state detection part for detecting the closed state, and a display control part for controlling the display of the image and displaying the image of the standby screen including the object image selected by the selection part in a background image during standby. The display control part displays a new standby screen including a new object image selected after the background image included in the standby display by the selection part in the background image (S14) as the state that the closed state detection part detects the closed state is changed to the state that it does not detect the closed state (YES in S09) in the state of displaying the image of the standby screen.
