The object of the present invention is to provide a simple connection pathway when a user wishes to use a screen display device or a speaker of an external apparatus on a peripheral apparatus. The signal conversion device employing virtual files of the present invention comprises: a connection unit for establishing a communications connection with the external apparatus; a signal receiving unit for receiving digital or analogue signals from a peripheral apparatus, by either wired or wireless communication; and a control unit for sending, to the external apparatus via the connection unit, virtual files corresponding to a signal from the peripheral apparatus when the signal is received by the signal receiving unit; and the virtual files comprise at least audio or video data.
