<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light emitting element that can be made compact and has a high output. <P>SOLUTION: The light emitting element 100 has a first gain region 160 and a second gain region 162 arrayed alternately. An end surface 172 of the first gain region 160 on the side of a second surface 107 is orthogonal to a predetermined direction A in plane view of an active layer 106, and a first reflection part 150 is provided lateral to the end surface 172. An end surface 174 of the second gain region 162 on the side of a first surface 105 is orthogonal to the predetermined direction A in plane view of the active layer 106, and a second reflection part 154 is provided lateral to the end surface 174. A part 10 of light generated in the first gain region 160 is reflected by the end surface 172 and emitted from an end surface 170 of the first gain region 160 on the side of the first surface 105, and a part 12 of light generated in the second gain region 162 is reflected by the end surface 174 and emitted from an end surface 176 of the second gain region 162 on the side of the second surface 107. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT |
