PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a power transmission belt and a method for installing the same allowing easy installation of a plurality of elements on a laminated ring, and improving work efficiency of installation work of the power transmission belt. SOLUTION: End surfaces 25a and 26a of locking parts 25 and 26 of the element 16 are tilted with respect to the thickness direction of the element 16, and thereby, a first opening width W1 of an opening 27 when the peripheral direction of the laminated rings 23 and 24 and the tilt direction of the end surfaces 25a and 26a of the locking parts 25 and 26 are not coincident with each other, is set smaller than a ring width W0 of the laminated rings 23 and 24, and a second opening width W2 of the opening 27 when the peripheral direction of the laminated rings 23 and 24 and the tilt direction of the end surfaces 25a and 26a of the locking parts 25 and 26 are coincident with each other, is set larger than the first opening width W1.
