The invention relates to an interior finishing element for an automobile provided with a handle. Said interior finishing element includes a lining panel, a handle, and a through-passage extending under the handle enabling the handle to be grasped while surrounding the latter. According to one aspect of the invention, the panel includes two adjacent openings and a strip of material extending between the two openings and forming at least one portion of the handle, the finishing element including an integral hollow insert mounted on the panel and inserted under the strip of material such that the insert extends between the two openings of the panel and defines the passage between the two openings.
