<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light source device having excellent rotational balance of a wheel, and to provide a projector including the same. <P>SOLUTION: The light source device includes: an excitation light source that emits prescribed wavelength-band light; a light-emitting wheel 71 arranged on an optical axis of the excitation light source; and a wheel motor 73 for rotationally driving the light-emitting wheel 71. The light-emitting wheel 71 has: each phosphor region that receives light emitted from the excitation light source so as to emit wavelength-band light different from a prescribed wavelength-band emitted by the excitation light source; and diffusion regions arranged at two or more parts so as to diffuse and transmit the light emitted from the excitation light source.
