Dimmable and static ballast on a universal PCB

The ballast has a copper-clad printed circuit board (PCB) (2) provided with a central integrated circuit (IC) (6), and a lamp choke (11) arranged on the PCB. The PCB is utilizable as a universal platform, and has a layout utilizable for forming dimmable and static ballasts. Contact points of the PCB are provided for alternative assembly, and are partially connected with each other. The layout of the PCB is designed for single- and two-lamp operations. The IC and a preheating device are designed for dimmable operation of two serially arranged lamps (8).
