Prepn of acylated glycoluriles

acylglycolurile, having acyl radical 2-10C, are prepd. by reacting glycolurile and carboxylic acid anhydrides or halides (having acyl of 2-10, pref. 2-8C), with or without catalyst, at ambient to reflux temp. Pref. reaction is effected at normal pressure with as catalyst alkaline acetate acids (esp. Lewis acids or sulphuric or perchloric acids). Method is applicable to large scale production. Cpds are oxygen activators for peroxygenated mineral cpds. Reaction time reduced to a few minutes by using mineral acids as catalyst.
