A storage stranding machine of the kind in which the stranded material is passed back and forth around pulleys 1 and 2, Fig. 1, is characterized in that at the inlet end the material to be stranded is guided by two or more rollers 8 in a plane containing the axis of rotation of the storage means and spaced at approximately the same distance from the axis of rotation of the storage means. The rollers 8 may rotate with forks 3, 4 carrying the pulleys 1, 2. Preferably the rollers 8 are mounted such that they are tangential with the axis of rotation of the forks 3, 4. In Fig. 2 (not shown) the forks 3, 4 are absent and the pulleys 1, 2 are mounted on a hollow shaft extending between the brackets 5 and 6. The rollers 8 ensure that the positions of the elements to be stranded are fixed relatively to one another and the stranding is effected with a defined lay. |
