PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a novel ferrule with an optical fiber which does not break the optical fiber during assembling work; and to provide an optical connector using the same. SOLUTION: The ferrule with an optical fiber includes: a ferrule body having a through hole which goes through from one end of the body to the other end; and an optical fiber introduced into the through hole. In this case, the through hole is composed of; a tube part which is formed from the one end of the ferrule body to an intermediate position en route to the other end and is uniform in diameter; and a taper part which is formed from the intermediate position to the other end side and becomes larger in its diameter toward the other end. One end of the optical fiber is located at the one end of the ferrule body, and the other end of the optical fiber is located in the tube part of the through hole. Furthermore, the other end of the optical fiber includes a refractive index adjusting film having the refractive index equivalent to that of the core of the optical fiber.
