PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a multi-hop communication method and a communication terminal for safely and efficiently updating old circle key information when updating becomes necessary. SOLUTION: In a communication terminal receiving terminal update information, when an identifier of a terminal of which the circle key should be updated is an own identifier, an own circle key is updated to a new circle key, and circle key update information is generated to be distributed to an adjacent communication terminal. In the communication terminal that has received the circle key update information and the terminal update information, when decoding and/or authentication to the circle key update information is successful by the utilization of key information included in the terminal update information, and an identifier of a terminal as the transmission source of the circle key update information coincides with an identifier of one terminal of which the circle key should be updated included in the terminal update information, the new circle key is newly shared with the communication terminal of the identifier included in the circle key update information.
