Provided is a method with which it is possible to produce a ceramic fired article having a large linear contraction rate during firing (firing contraction rate) without compromising the shape of the molded article, such as a honeycomb shape. The method for producing a ceramic fired article includes a step for firing a molded article. The linear contraction rate of the dimensions of the fired article with respect to the dimensions of the molded article (linear contraction rate (%) = (molded article dimensions - fired article dimensions) / (molded article dimensions) x 100) is 1% or greater. The molded article is fired while disposed on a mat formed from a ceramic having a high heat conduction rate.
