The system (100) has a memory (160) e.g. flash RAM, for storing images, and a display (150) such as LED or plasma display, e.g. touchscreen, for representing the images from the memory. An input device (155) selects the image on the display. Geographic positions are assigned to the images. The system is formed such that one of the positions assigned to the selected image is transferred as a target for route planning. The position is represented by a postal address and is detected by a position determining device (110) e.g. global positioning system, is assigned to the selected image. The memory is also designed as a Secure digital card(RTM: stamp-sized flash memory card), and a CompactFlash card(RTM: flash memory card). An independent claim is also included for a method inputting a target for route planning in a navigation system at a rim of a motor vehicle.
