A particle filter element (3,4) is arranged in the housing in each case so that two soot filters (5,6) are formed. A filter element-free through line is arranged within the soot filter, where the through line is closed in a circumferential direction. The latter soot filter is downstream to the former soot filter. An independent claim is also included for a method for controlling an exhaust gas stream by an exhaust gas aftertreatment device.
