In a rotary vacuum filter, slurry is supplied and filter cake discharged at N pairs of locations per revolution, N>1. The non-productive period of any elementary filter area during any one of the N filter cycles must not exceed (100)/(N+1) % of the total period of rotation of the filter: this condition (it is stated) results in a theoretical increase in capacity of 100 (#N - 1) % compared with those conventional filters for which N=1, assuming a O% non-productive filter area. As described the method is carried out on adapted rotary table or tilting cell filters, such as in Specification 2,684,158. |
