PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rubber composition for coating a steel cord which achieves a steel cord-rubber complex imparting excellent durability to a rubber article obtained, while further improving the initial adhesion and heat-resistant adhesion between a coated rubber and the steel cord. SOLUTION: The rubber composition for coating the steel cord contains 0.005-0.08 pt.mass of a boron-containing compound in terms of boron, and 1-10 pts.mass of sulfur with respect to 100 pts.mass of a rubber ingredient.
