PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ink end displaying method for an ink cartridge, which makes recognizable through visual inspection that the ink cartridge is in an ink end state. SOLUTION: When detecting the ink end state of the ink cartridge 20 (ST1), an ink jet printer 1 moves an ink jet head 14 to a left end position 15B, faces the head to an ink end display printing surface 34b of the ink cartridge 20 exposed at an adjacent position of a platen 13 (ST3), and prints a double cancel line L indicative of the fact that it is an ink end on printed information of the ink end display printing surface 34b by ejecting ink liquid droplets only once from an ink nozzle array in the state (ST4). Information informing the ink end, through visual inspection, can be printed on the ink cartridge 20 while the apparatus size is prevented from increasing. COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT |
