PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To surely discharge a mixed color ink in a recording head generated after the wiping of an ejection opening surface by a wiper blade in an ink jet recorder, and to suppress the useless consumption of an ink caused by excessive spare ejection. SOLUTION: The ink adhered to the ejection opening surface where an ejection opening of the recording head is formed is wiped by the wiper blade (S102). After wiping by the wiper blade, ink droplets not contributing to recording are ejected (sparely ejected) (S105).
