<p>A disc of the usual thickness and diameter in polyester or other relatively flexible resistant material of similar properties is assembled with two steel discs of small diameter to fix the special disc on the axis of a wheel or other rotating part. The disc may be reinforced, and preferably is engaged by a pivoted fork, capable of mechanical or hydraulic operation of applying a torsional force to the disc so as to resist its rotation. The two small discs are mounted on the same axis and separated from the special disc only by the space necessary to accommodate the rotation of the fork. The device is useful for handbrakes.</p> |
