PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for initializing a controller, which can change an initialization processing without changing firmware itself in the case of needing to change an initialized value of a circuit to be initialized in a controller and can prevent the circuit from being initialized by a wrong setting value even in the case that an unexpected error occurs in a stored initialized value. SOLUTION: The method for initializing a controller includes a first storing part for storing an initialization program for initializing the circuit to be initialized and a second storing part for storing an initialized value of the circuit to be initialized, reads an error detection code from the second storing part when executing the initialization program to detect the existence/absence of an error of the initialized value, uses the initialized value to initialize the circuit to be initialized when no error is detected, and uses another initialized value to initialize the circuit to be initialized when an error is detected.
