<p>The present invention relates to a protection system using, to counter external aggressions such as pirates, a non-lethal means (10) that scatters, in the atmosphere surrounding the facility (11), a cloud of active materials containing at least one material, the repulsive or restrictive effects of which are intended to effectively ward off the aggressors. The invention can be used in particular for the security of ships and sea facilities. The invention is characterized by a dual release trigger: in one case, the invention makes it possible to prevent the aggressors (15.1, 15.2, 15.3) from setting foot onboard by creating, between the facility and the aggressors, a secure area that is impassable without special equipment; in another case, if the aggressors make it onboard, the invention makes it possible to force the agressors to evacuate the facility by scattering the material on the facility itself after personnel have retreated from the facility to the shelter.
