PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing electroluminescent phosphor particles of a fine particle size suitable for manufacturing electroluminescent elements of high luminescent intensity. SOLUTION: In baking a mixture containing a phosphor precursor having a group II-VI compound semiconductor as a host material and a halogen-containing flux, a compound that fuses at the baking temperature and does not react with the phosphor precursor is added to the mixture as an inhibitor against particle growth.
