[Also in Division C2] Pharmaceutical compositions having antihypertensive, diuretic and saluretic activity comprise, as active ingredient, a 5-amino-6- chloro-1H-imidazo [4, 5-6] pyrazin-2-one of the general formula: wherein R and X 1 are each a hydrogen atom or a C 1-5 alkyl group and X 2 is a hydrogen atom or a C 1-5 alkyl, alkoxy-C 1-5 alkyl, monocyclic aryl (optionally halo-substituted), pyridyl, vinyl, acetamidomethyl, 2-isopropylaminoethyl, 2-acetamidoethyl or di-(C 1-5 alkyl)-aminoalkyl group or an aminoalkyl group, the nitrogen atom of which forms part of a saturated 5-or 6-membered heterocyclic ring optionally containing an unsubstituted or C 1-5 alkyl-substituted imino group or an oxygen atom, or X 1 and X 2 may together form a tetramethylene radical, together with a pharmaceutical diluent or excipient and, optionally, further therapeutic agents, and may be administered orally or parenterally as pills, tablets, capsules, elixirs or injectable preparations.</p> |
