<p>Mixtures of cycloalkanols and cycloalkanones, are obtd. in high yields by the liquid phase catalytic oxidation of 5-12 C cycloparaffins at 130-160 degrees C/6-25 atmos. press., with a gas contng. O2, the catalysts comprising heavy metal cpds. in which the anions are derived from a strong acid, soluble in the cycloalkanes. Thus cyclohexane is oxidised at 145 degrees C in the presence of CO in the form of a salt of a stoichiometric mixture of the mono- and diester of iso-tridecanol and o-phosphoric acid (designated CO-MDIT phosphate) and with 2.65% conversion of the cyclohexane used, the yield of cyclohexanone and cyclohexanol is 77.5% (w.r.t. cyclohexane converted).</p> |
