1346195 Fuel injection pumps BRYCE BERGER Ltd 15 June 1971 [23 June 1970] 27924/71 Heading F1A A fuel injection pump having an axially adjustable rack bar 5 controlling the delivery is provided with a maximum fuel stop in the form of a pointed rod 4 extending transversely into the path of an inclined surface 18 on the bar 5. The thickness of a stack of washers determines the axial position of the rod and thus the stop position of the rack bar. When starting, the rod 4 is retracted against the action of a spring 9, whereby the rod engages a shoulder 19 to provide excess fuel. After start up the rack is moved in a delivery decreasing direction by a governor and the rod is automatically moved by the spring 9 to its original position in which it subsequently controls maximum fuel delivery. |
