PURPOSE: An apparatus and method for controlling a mobile terminal are provided to accurately input a touch point by correcting the difference between a touch input point of a user and a touch input point actually sensed on a touch screen. CONSTITUTION: If a touch input point occurs on a touch screen, a control unit(10) displays a pointer and a pointer controller on a coordinate on which the touch screen recognizes a touch input point. If the pointer-controller is moved, the control unit moves and displays the pointer in correspondence to the movement of the pointer-controller. If the input operation which informs the completion in the pointer control operation, the control unit confirms the touch input operation in the point in which the moved and displayed pointer is placed and performs the operation corresponding to the touch input operation.
