FIELD: chemistry. ^ SUBSTANCE: present invention relates to a method of producing (R)-(-)-sertaconazole mononitrate, in which first, a chemical reaction takes place between (R)-(-)-1-(2,4-dichlorophenyl)-2-(1H-imidazol-1-yl)-ethanol and an intermediate of general formula where L denotes a leaving group, in the presence of an interphase catalyst and a base in a medium consisting of water and a water-immiscible solvent; followed by treatment with nitric acid and recrystallisation of the solid product formed from a suitable solvent which contains a mixture of an alcohol containing 1-4 carbon atoms and acetone; the formed polyacetone of R-(-)-sertaconazole mononitrate is converted to R-(-)-sertaconazole mononitrate by drying at temperature between 80 and 90C; and the obtained R-(-)-sertaconazole mononitrate (V) is purified.
