PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electronic component mounting apparatus, capable of preventing an expensive reusable electronic component from being discarded in vain, thereby preventing an increase in production cost. SOLUTION: The price of an electronic component Pt which is attached on a substrate PB is stored in a RAM32. A soundness decision unit 20b of a control device 20 determines condition of the electronic component Pt before being attached to the substrate PB based on the results of image recognition performed for an electronic component sucked by an attaching head 8. If the soundness decision unit determines that the condition is not good, the price of the electronic component Pt sucked by the attaching head 8 is read out of the RAM32 and is compared with a predetermined reference price (step ST8). If the price of the electronic component Pt is less than the reference price, the electronic component Pt is discharged into a component discarding box 13 (step ST10).
