A drum type washing machine is provided with: a closed-bottomed cylindrical water tub (3) provided within a housing (2) and having a water tub opening (13); a closed-bottomed cylindrical rotating drum (4) disposed within the water tub (3) and having a drum opening (54); and a motor (6) mounted to the outer bottom surface (30) of the water tub (3) and rotating the rotating drum (4) by a rotating shaft which is horizontal or tilted downward toward the bottom. The drum type washing machine is also provided with: a circulation path (16) for connecting the bottom side and the water tub opening (13) side of the water tub (3) and circulating wash water within the water tub (3), from the bottom side to the water tub opening (13) side; and multiple jet openings (53) for jetting the circulated wash water toward the inside of the rotating drum (4). The wash water is jetted from the multiple jet openings (53) to the inside of the rotating drum (4), and as a result, the wash water is efficiently supplied to the laundry and washing power is improved.
