Apparatus, methods and systems for computing a solution to the power flow problem and dynamically simulating a power system using parallel processing. The method includes: (a) performing a Jacobi power flow calculation for each bus to determine the complex voltage for each bus, wherein at least two Jacobi power flow calculations are performed concurrently on a plurality of parallel processors; (b) determining a power mismatch at each bus based on the complex voltage for each bus; (c) repeating steps (a) to (c). The method may further include (d) calculating a frequency of the power system using the power mismatch of at least one bus; (e) estimating the real and reactive power for each bus to achieve a steady state using a control system model, the control system model using at least one of the system frequency, power mismatches and complex voltages as an input; and (f) repeating steps (a) to (f). |
