PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide coated paper that has excellent stiffness, opacity and printability and water absorption resistance in such a degree as not to generate paper breakage caused by dampening water absorption in offset printing in spite of being light-weight coated paper having a basis weight of≥20 g/m<SP>2</SP>and <50 g/m<SP>2</SP>. SOLUTION: In the coated paper having a pigment coated layer comprising a pigment and an adhesive as main components on base paper, the basis weight of the coated paper is≥20 g/m<SP>2</SP>and <50 g/m<SP>2</SP>, the coated layer is coated in a coated amount of≤12 g/m<SP>2</SP>as the total of both sides as the surface coated layers most separated from the base paper. A pulp fiber obtained by disintegrating the coated paper by JIS-P8220:1998 [pulp-disintegrating method] has the largest value of fiber length in the range of≥0.10 mm and <0.65 mm in a fiber length distribution obtained by classification of fiber length for every 0.05 mm.
