PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid developer in which toner particles are excellent in long term dispersion stability, and to provide a method for efficiently producing such a kind of the liquid developer. SOLUTION: The method for producing the liquid developer has: a step to prepare toner mother particles including a coloring agent and a resin material; and a step to treat the toner mother particles with an anionic silicone emulsion in an alkaline liquid, and to obtain the toner particles.
