<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polarizing plate having high adhesion between the polarizing plate and a protective film therefor, and high durability in a severe environment and high productivity, the polarizing plate that using a polyethylene terephthalate film as a protective film, and to provide a liquid crystal display device using the polarizing plate. <P>SOLUTION: The polarizing plate includes a polarizing film made of a polyvinyl alcohol-based resin and a stretched polyethylene terephthalate film laminated on one surface of the polarizing film via a first adhesive layer. The stretched polyethylene terephthalate film has a coating layer formed of a resin composition containing 40 wt.% or more of a polyester-based resin on the surface of the stretched polyethylene terephthalate film to be adhered to the polarizing film. The first adhesive layer is made of a cured material layer of an active energy ray-curable resin composition containing an epoxy compound.
