<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a card reader securely preventing infiltration of liquid into a position where a control substrate and the like is arranged. <P>SOLUTION: The card reader 1 is equipped with: a magnetic head 3; a front frame 5; a main frame 6; the control substrate 7; and a ring-shaped seal member 8. The main frame 6 is equipped with: a head arrangement section 15 where the magnetic head 3 is arranged; a sack-shaped card storage 16 storing a rear end of an inserted card; and a seal arrangement section 18 which is formed between the head arrangement section 15 and the card storage 16 and on which the seal member 8 is arranged. The front frame 5 is provided with a cylinder 5b formed so as to be connected to a front face 5a. A rear end part of the cylinder 5b is formed as a seal pressing section 5h that presses the seal member 8 from a rim of the seal member 8 in a diameter direction. The control substrate 7 is arranged nearer the rear end than the seal arrangement section 18 and outside the card storage 16.
