<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus and a process cartridge, having an improved recovery rate of transfer residual toner to a developing means. <P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus is equipped with a toner temporary recovering unit 9 which temporarily recovers transfer residual toner by a cleaning roller 91 with a cleaning bias applied thereon, the residual toner remaining on the surface of a photoreceptor 1 after image transfer by a transfer device 5, and which deposits again the recovered toner on the photoreceptor 1 in a region where no latent image is formed and no influence is added to the subsequent step of forming a latent image. The toner temporary recovering unit 9 is equipped with a charge injection plate 96 to control the toner recovered by the cleaning roller 91 into the same polarity as the charging bias, and a destaticizing lamp 98 to destaticize the photoreceptor 1 so as to increase the potential difference between the bias potential applied on the cleaning roller 91 and the photoreceptor 1 within a range that the recovered toner at least on the cleaning roller 91 can fly to the photoreceptor 1. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
