PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fluorescent whitening agent which can simply be synthesized and absorbs light in a wavelength region from visible rays to ultraviolet rays to emit light in a blue region, and to provide a white resin composition using the same. SOLUTION: There is provided a diaroylmethanato-boron difluoride-based compound (1BF<SB>2</SB>) fluorescent whitening agent represented by structural formula (I), [wherein, R<SB>1</SB>is H, CH<SB>3</SB>or Si(CH<SB>3</SB>)<SB>3</SB>; R<SB>2</SB>is H, CH<SB>3</SB>or Si(CH<SB>3</SB>)<SB>3</SB>].
