PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an endoscope capable of bending a tip part of an inserting tube by rotating the angle knob, and locking by only left hand without releasing the hand from the inserting tube while bending the tip part of the inserting tube. SOLUTION: A locking mechanism of an endoscope includes a friction plate rotatable around the rotary axis together with the angle knob, a locking member movable along the rotary axis of the angle knob, a sleeve mounted on an operation part, a locking button composed for moving along the sleeve, and a force conversion mechanism for converting the force for moving the locking button along the sleeve direction into force for moving the locking member toward the friction plate, and the locking member is directly in contact with the friction plate and the angle knob is locked by the friction force acting between both.
