The method comprises producing a basic body of a molded part from a first transparent inorganic and/or ceramic material, and coating the basic body of the molded part with a second inorganic and/or ceramic material different from the first inorganic and/or ceramic material. The second inorganic and/or ceramic material has color than the first inorganic and/or ceramic material. The introduction of the coating takes place in an immersion process and in a physical vapor deposition coating process. The coating is removed by laser ablation in a section-wise manner to produce a symbol or a mark. An independent claim is included for a molded part such as an operating part for a passenger compartment of a vehicle.
