PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a composition for treating or preventing diabetes or diabetes complications containing compound galenical extracts as the active ingredients. SOLUTION: The composition for treating or preventing diabetes or diabetes complications has activity to lower blood glucose and activity to inhibit diabetes complications and contains as the active ingredients the compound galenical extracts including Momordica charantia L., Cordyceps sinensis SACC., Lycii Radicis cortex, Mori cortex Radicis, EuonymiLignum Suberalatum, PuerariaeRadix, polygonati Rhizoma, AtractylodisRhizoma Alba, Liriopis Tuber, CorniFructus and GinseugRadix Alba. The composition increases insulin secretion of a model animal of type 2 diabetes and improves insulin resistance, exhibiting strong activity to lower blood glucose and activity to inhibit diabetes complications. The composition can be used well for treating or preventing diabetic illness and inhibiting diabetes complications because its ingredients are of natural-plant origin and safe.
