PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal device which improves black insertion effect (preventing motion blur etc. of a motion image display) by backlight scan processing. SOLUTION: In the liquid crystal display device for performing backlight scan processing in which a plurality of light sources are repeatedly and intermittently turned on one by one, by interlocking with writing operation of the image signal on a liquid crystal panel according to predetermined clock signal, a frequency of the predetermined clock signal at performing time of the backlight scan processing is set higher than that of the predetermined clock signal at non-performing time of the backlight scan processing.
