<p>This hand-operated disce-playing machine has three discs (1) having representations of the six sides of a die. When the operating lever (5) is pulled out from the side of the case against the force of a spring (7), teeth on the upper edge of the arm strike toothed wheels (3) at the centre of the discs, making them spin. When the arm is released, the teeth act as pawls and lock all three wheels into a position, so that the die faces (4) can be seen through windows in the front of the casing. In an alternative the discs form the rotors of small electric motors switched on by the player.</p> |
